The Story Behind The Image

Concept Design Agency devised a campaign to illustrate the highly absorbent powers of their client's product, Mesorb. We discussed the ideas and had planned to shoot all 3 scenarios at a critical time in Cornwall.

However, delays in getting the go-ahead meant we lost our window to shoot. Consequently we decided to shoot it in sections - here in our Luton photographic studio's car park and also down on the beach in Cornwall.

Shooting across the UK

We could not have pulled off a project such as this in the short space of time available had it not been for our professional relationships forged through the Commercial Photographers' Network.

The key to this multi-site shoot was to do a dummy run to identify and solve the problems. After booking the weather, a set was built in our secure car park with sand-colour paper to provide the effects of sand and blue for the sky. With all the props and models ready and with the sun in the right position, the pressing of the button was the easy bit.

The client loved our totally whacky approach but was unhappy he missed out on a swim in the sea!

Planning here is more important than Photoshop

Now with exact lens angles and positions the sky and beach were captured later to be montaged in. It is important when this sort of exercise is done that all the elements work together with both lighting and perspective otherwise it just doesn't work.
